Guide to importing your rides to BikeCompanion

2 min read

You already have a history of activities on another platform (Strava, Garmin, Wahoo, Komoot) and want to switch to BikeCompanion? Don’t worry! We have developed specific import tools to help you keep your entire sporting history during your transition.

Available import methods #

BikeCompanion allows you to import your previous activities in two ways:

1. Direct synchronization (for Garmin/Wahoo users) #

If you use Garmin or Wahoo, you can set up automatic synchronization:

2. Manual file import (for all platforms) #

BikeCompanion only accepts the following file formats:

  • FIT: Standard format for activity data with detailed metrics
  • GPX: Standard GPS exchange format for routes and tracks

How to export your data from other platforms #

Example: Exporting from Strava #

  1. Log in to your account at Strava.com
  2. Hover over your name in the top right corner and choose “Settings”
  3. Find the “My Account” tab in the left sidebar menu
  4. At the bottom of the page, click “Get Started” in the “Download or Delete Your Account” section
  5. Select “Request Your Archive” on the next page
  6. You will receive an email with a link to download your data (this may take some time)
  7. After receiving the email, open it and click on the “Download Archive” button
  8. Open the downloaded folder and extract its contents
  9. Once extracted, your rides will be found in the “Activities” folder
  10. The FIT and GPX files in this folder are ready to be imported into BikeCompanion

For other platforms #

Most platforms offer similar options:

  • Look in your account settings for the “Export Data” or “Download My Activities” option
  • Exports are typically provided as a ZIP file containing your activities

Importing into BikeCompanion #

Via email #

You can send your GPS files as attachments to support@bikecompanion.app from the email address associated with your BikeCompanion profile, and they will be synchronized with your account for access.

No duplicates during import #

BikeCompanion automatically detects and rejects duplicate activities during import, preserving the integrity of your statistics. The system prioritizes activities already in your account when duplicates are detected, so that only new (non-duplicated) activities are imported.
