Analysis of the difficulty:
This Category 3 climb looks moderate but is deceptive. The first half (0-4.5 km) is very gentle, with gradients often under 3%, so you can settle into a good rhythm. The real difficulty starts after the summit at 4.5 km, with a tough 3 km section where the gradient hovers between 6% and 7%. The finale is flat, with even two kilometers of descent.
Tips for managing the effort:
1. Save something in the tank for the heart of the climb. Don't get fooled by the easy start. Use the first 4 km to ride at a steady pace and conserve your energy.
2. Anticipate the change of pace around 4.5 km. The gradient kicks up sharply to 5-6%. Gradually raise your cadence and power at this point so you're not caught off guard.
3. Hold a steady effort through the hard section (km 4.5 to 7.5). This is the key stretch. Once you've made it through, the gradient drops off noticeably, giving you a chance to recover actively before the finish.
