Difficulty analysis: This 9.9 km climb with 488 m of elevation gain averages 4.9%, which makes it a Category 1 climb. The first four kilometres, from km 0.0 to km 4.0, are rolling, with gradients between 0 and 3%, so it's easy to settle into a good rhythm. The real difficulty is concentrated between km 4.0 and km 9.5, where the gradient is almost constantly between 5 and 10%. The section from km 9.0 to km 9.5, at 10%, is the hardest part of the climb.
Tips for managing your effort:
1. Save your legs at the start. On the rolling section from km 0.0 to km 4.0, don't go out too hard, so you still have something in the tank for the steep section.
2. Hold a steady effort through the middle section. Between km 4.0 and km 9.0, the gradient changes often, so choose an appropriate gear and keep a steady pace rather than repeated surges.
3. Handle the final ramp, then recover. Tackle km 9.0 to km 9.5 at 10% while staying seated with a steady cadence, then use the almost flat stretch from km 9.5 to km 9.9 to recover before the finish.
Every year, on August 2nd, a popular gathering takes place at the summit of Štrbina. The pass also has a natural spring, known as "Dobra voda" ("the good water").
According to expert analysis, this water is among the best in the region. It is fed by rainfall over the eastern plateau of Brda and Crni Vrh, which keeps its flow steady all year round.
On the west side of the pass is the memorial cemetery for the fighters who fell during the National Liberation War (NOR).
One of the riders posted photos of the spot, the eastern plateau of Brda and Crni Vrh. The second review is just a rating, 5/5, with no comment.
